FireFox 3.0 Hits the Virtual Shelves

Following on from my recent post detailing the ways in which FireFox 3 is superior to Safari from a security point of view, I just wanted to make a quick post letting you all know that the first stable release of FireFox 3 was made available for download a few hours ago.

The guys over at Mozilla, the makers of FireFox, are trying to claim the world record for the number of software downloads in the first 24 hours after release with FireFox 3.

Judging by the fact that it’s almost impossible do download it ATM they seem to be having some success! If you want to support their effort for the world record then be prepared to be patient as you may have to try a few times to get the download. If you’re not interested in that kind of thing then I’d suggest you wait till tomorrow to download :)

You can get FireFox 3 at www.getfirefox.com.

I love the new Firefox. It’s a big improvement over Firefox 2 for Mac. The only reason I’m still sticking with Safari is because Firefox 3 takes a little too long to open up a new window.

If they implemented removable tabs (safari style) it would be perfect.

Other than that the only issue I have had so far is with a couple of greasemonkey scripts (for conquerclub.com)
