Many of us have an old ipod laying around that has gone by the wayside because it broke in one way or another. Others of us absolutely REFUSE to buy a new one and are lugging around that 5GB brick known as the first gen.

Well now, be you cheap or persistent, there is hope for your aging or ailing ipod. Demetrios Leontaris, a.k.a. the “ipod doctor”, is located in New York City and uses his car as his workshop/office. Typically his fee is around 70$ (which begs the question, why not go to the Refurb. store and pick up new ipod for not much more!) and involves a rapid assessment and repair. So, on a tangentially Mac based note, it seems that Woz and his whatevershewas/is Kathy Griffin never got it on.
I will watch my language because this is a family blog, but Griffin’s quote on the matter is: “we…were dating, but were just friendly. I never (insert expletive here) him or anything!”
Poor Woz!

Kid Rock has spoke to the BBC over the iTunes store, and publicly letting the world know why he won’t sell his music in the largest music store in the US. After hearing the success of iTunes hitting the big 5 billion, It’s hard to comprehend why a musician might not want to be in the store.
Despite not being on the online music shop, his album made it to number one in the US last year. His reasoning for not selling his music through the service is based on claims that iTunes is stuck on a model in which the artists do not get paid and Apple and the labels do.

A while ago, the crew over at EFiX promised a wicked little chunk of hardware that installs OS X on any PC (sort of). Well, now EFiX has put up a product page which includes some specs on the desktop version of this little monster.

The page comes complete with broken links and a more than confusing description of the end of the world as we know it. Enjoy!!

As more and more details come to light about the forthcoming “Snow Leopard”, one of the bright spots is Apple’s work in making app’s more lightweight. This is mainly for the purpose of being able to run on mobile devices which require and use SSD drives that rock a significantly lower capacity. (more…)
iTunes has surpassed itself in music sales with its 5 billionth song sold in the iTunes digital music store.
5 billionth song! If there are roughly 100 million iPods that 5,000,000,000 divided by 100,000,000 that is roughly 50 songs per iPod downloaded in the history of the iTunes library. The colossal number of songs was reached with the iTunes store serving up 8 million songs to your music plater for you to enjoy.
Also on the menu are 20,000 TV episodes, 2,000 movies (350 of which in the chef’s special high-definition sauce). Apple has shifted 50,000 of their movies per day in either rented or purchased form. These statistics are based on the US alone but in other countries I’m sure that “La Cordon iTunes” is dominating the online music market in a very similar way.
