Sebastian suceeds with Livestation

Livestation is a great streaming TV catcher for Mac, PC and Linux. Just before Obama’s inauguration I downloaded it and have been loving it ever since.

Livestation has partnered with many of the big TV stations to bring high-quality TV to everyone. You have channels like BBC World, CNN, Al Jazeera, France 24 and Deutsche Welle right at your fingertips as well as “Viewer Channels” added by individuals around the world.

When you open Livestation you are presented with a carousel of TV stations circling around the station that is playing at the moment. To change channel you just simply have to click on another station in the carousel. Once you’ve dicided on a channel the carousel fly’s away and Livestation fills the entire window.

Also, there’s a built in chat feature where you can chat with other people watching the same channel. I’ve found that some really interesting dissvisions can happen when you plonk people together in a chat room and they know nothing about each other.

The video quality of Livestation varies between channels. Some (like the BBC) are ok-ish while others (like CNN) are briliant! Generaly the partenered channels are of a better quality than the Viewer channels.

I don’t advise that people use this if they have a cap on their internet connection because this is sure to take a large bite out of it.

The best thing about Livestation is that it’s free! Great TV for the price of nothing. I think that Livestation is great and I can only hope that it stays.

P.S. I just noticed something, everything that I’ve posted about has been free! Viva La Freeda!
