Keaton On: TabletSlateCanvasMacPod

[EDIT: Will everyone PLEASE stop calling it the MacPod - Stu]

My prediction for the magical flying unicorn of a product that is the Apple Tablet is as follows; almost everything everybody, including me, has predicted so far will be partially to totally wrong. Obvious paradox aside, the build up to this iUnicorn mirrors that of the iPhone almost perfectly; hundreds of tech blogs speculating wildly different things about a product, agreeing only on a name (well, usually) and a few basic ideas about what it is. So yes, I could spend the next 3-4 paragraphs analyzing the exact position and length of every one of the few hairs remaining on Steve Jobs’s head looking for any clues to what this iFlyingNarwhal is, but that would be stupid, unhelpful, repetitious, and take longer than the 45 minutes I have allotted myself to write this before Chuck starts, so instead I’m just gonna write about what I’d like to see, and what I wouldn’t. Several organizations have quickly organized relief efforts, from the expected Red Cross, UNICEF, and Doctors Without Borders to local organizations throughout the world. (more…)

Confirmed: Apple Event, 27th January.

Today the Apple community shouts a big hurrah to the news that the previously rumoured January 27th event, something every blog and podcast, including this one, have been speculating about for the past month or so, is now in fact a real thing!

Apple Event: Come see our latest creation.

ArsTechnica seem to be the first of the mainstream tech-blogs to publish the story, followed by Engadget and Gizmodo soon after. All confirm the event shall take place at 10:00am in the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts and Theatre, San Francisco. Known as the regular location for previous iPod/iTunes events in September, and with no Macworld Expo keynote from Apple this year, it seems like a good place for Apple to show their “latest creation” to the world in a month that has introduced us to the Mac Mini, iPhone and MacBook Air in previous years.
