Confirmed: Apple Event, 27th January.
Today the Apple community shouts a big hurrah to the news that the previously rumoured January 27th event, something every blog and podcast, including this one, have been speculating about for the past month or so, is now in fact a real thing!
ArsTechnica seem to be the first of the mainstream tech-blogs to publish the story, followed by Engadget and Gizmodo soon after. All confirm the event shall take place at 10:00am in the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts and Theatre, San Francisco. Known as the regular location for previous iPod/iTunes events in September, and with no Macworld Expo keynote from Apple this year, it seems like a good place for Apple to show their “latest creation” to the world in a month that has introduced us to the Mac Mini, iPhone and MacBook Air in previous years.
Obviously, the world is now screaming of what IMP knows affectionately as the “AppleNetbookTabletThingy” and the rumours associated with what it will do if it does actually exist. Will it have a 10 inch screen? Will it use iPhone OS or another acquired flavour of Mac OS X? Will it be used to promote the publishing industry and revitalise what little of it hasn’t died yet? (like iTunes did to the music industry) Will it blend? All will be revealed to us next Wednesday.
I must say I’m looking forward to what the event has in store for us. Where before the invites from Apple’s PR for these types of events have given away an incline in to what Apple will introduce, this one Apple are keeping their paint splattered cards to their chest. Along with the tagline “Come see our latest creation”, I believe can only mean that we are in nice shock with whatever they are doing or releasing.
Remember: Wednesday 27th January, 10:00am Pacific/6:00pm GMT – All the mainstream technology media will be covering the event as it happens.
