* __Bart__: Yesterday would have been Alan Turing’s 100th birthday. Most people have never heard of this man, his work, or his death. He’s affectionately known as the grandfather of modern computer science, so anyone who uses a computer should know a little about him. He was also a mathematical war hero! His work on cracking German codes during WWII was instrumental ins shortening the war and saving lives. He was also gay, and punished brutally for that by the British government.
