I haven’t written a post in a while (I’d like to say it’s because I was Getting Things Done, but that’s just not true. That isn’t my strong suit), and I don’t really want to right now. It’s not you, it’s me. Holiday stuff, having a Mac suddenly not boot, and making dinner, that kind of thing. Luckily for you, I have a little something I wrote, like my last What Will Got Done, for Journalism, about Mac vs. PC. It’s definitely not my best work ever, but it’s here, so you might as well enjoy it That said, let the enjoyment begin! (more…)
This week I’m going back to something that, while not very geeky itself, is something that I, and many other geeks, have to deal with on the internet: People who sound stupid Intense orchestra hit. Okay, so it’s not a very big deal, who really cares, I mean, It’s their loss, not mine, so I’m disguising this whole angry rant as some ‘helpful tips’, let’s call it, “How to not be a dummy for dummies”. (more…)
Here I am going to deviate from the norm. Yes, I know what we really haven’t set a norm yet, having only had two posts, but they were both on a theme and I am going to explore a different aspect of that theme. Instead of Will Gets Things Done, this is What Will Got Done.
You may know that I’m in High school. You probably don’t know that I’m taking Journalism as an elective. One of our recent assignments was to write a review, so I decided it was a perfect way to earn some Geek Cred. I chose to review Twitter. So, without further ado, here is my masterpiece… (more…)
Keaton On: Web Development (and Joe the Plumber)
Two weeks ago I did a rant about how much I hated Xcode, but in the last 2 weeks I’ve finally managed to figure it out. Of course, being my easily distracted self, while learning Xcode I’ve also decided to try my hand at coding a website. So, now all of my anger at Xcode has found a new target: Web Development.
Apparently, me being a geek (or, maybe just an American) means that I get really mad at things that are too hard. Sure, it’s sounds kinda petty and childish, but really, is there any reason this stuff has to be so complicated? Not really, hence the problem, hence the anger, hence the blog post, hence the lengthy comments (sorry, I kinda forgot where I was going with that). (more…)
Today I have for you something that is closely related to what I talked about last time. That connects well into the other announcement I have to make, so I’ll leave you at a cliffhanger. (Yes, they’re on my mind because of the 7th Son trilogy by JC Hutchins. You should really listen to all three, and/or go to 7thsonnovel.com for all that and more, including some fan fiction. Plug over.)
Anyway, back to me. You may have noticed that Keaton, the stealer of all my ideas as it appears, has had a theme to his blog posts. Yes, I know there have only been two, but they had a theme. Keaton’s area of expertise is opinion, he has his “Keaton On:” segment, and now I will have my own. The grand title: “Will Gets Things Done.” Yes, I am about to become one of those GTD freaks. Don’t worry, though. I’m the kind that loves to tinker with new workflows, so it won’t be all about how my way is the best way. (more…)
Lots of crazy things from Asia have been coming to the US lately. Smaller cars, Toilets that clean and warm your butt, and that very very strange show Hole in the Wall to name a few. One other thing that is making it’s way west isn’t as good: Knockoffs *Queue the scary music*. Engadget has a recurring blog series called “Keepin’ it real fake” which features all of the hilariously awful knockoffs people have spotted around the world (although, to be fair, or unfair as the case may be, it’s mostly from China).
We sit there and wonder how anybody could ever fall for those terrible knockoffs that probably barely work, then rush out to the Sprint store to pick up our ‘brand new’ Instinct or Bold or Xpressmusic or Xperia or G1 or Voyager or whatever else they’re churning out.
(more…)This is my first post for IMP, so I figured that it would be fitting to write about something to do with writing (about something to do with writing about something… you get the idea.)
I found a really cool website today! I should probably tell you where I got it, but the problem is that I don’t remember and due to the nature I can’t go look it up now. You’ll see why in a sec. I’ll probably put it in “in post.” (more…)
