GTD Essentials: Actions

GTD stands for Getting Things Done. In order to Get Things Done, you need to know what those Things are.

Enter the concept of actions. An action is anything you wish was not the way it was now is considered an action, no matter how big or small. Those you can actually do something about are called actionable–you can take action on them. All actionables are actions, but not vice versa. Some actions you need something out of your control to change before they come actionable. (more…)

My topic is GTD, right? Right. Everyone in Tech knows what GTD is, right? Maybe, probably not. Everyone in Tech knows all about GTD? Wrong. GTD is not a universal concept. Even if every techy knew what it meant, GTD is not only for techies. Out of this is born my series of GTD Essentials: one concept per post of GTD reasoning, methods, terminology, etc.

This time I’m focusing on a pretty simple one. This is one of the big ideas GTD revolves around. (more…)

What Will Got Done for Journalism: Mac VS PC

I haven’t written a post in a while (I’d like to say it’s because I was Getting Things Done, but that’s just not true. That isn’t my strong suit), and I don’t really want to right now. It’s not you, it’s me. Holiday stuff, having a Mac suddenly not boot, and making dinner, that kind of thing. Luckily for you, I have a little something I wrote, like my last What Will Got Done, for Journalism, about Mac vs. PC. It’s definitely not my best work ever, but it’s here, so you might as well enjoy it That said, let the enjoyment begin! (more…)

What Will Got Done: A review!

Here I am going to deviate from the norm. Yes, I know what we really haven’t set a norm yet, having only had two posts, but they were both on a theme and I am going to explore a different aspect of that theme. Instead of Will Gets Things Done, this is What Will Got Done.

You may know that I’m in High school. You probably don’t know that I’m taking Journalism as an elective. One of our recent assignments was to write a review, so I decided it was a perfect way to earn some Geek Cred. I chose to review Twitter. So, without further ado, here is my masterpiece… (more…)

Today I have for you something that is closely related to what I talked about last time. That connects well into the other announcement I have to make, so I’ll leave you at a cliffhanger. (Yes, they’re on my mind because of the 7th Son trilogy by JC Hutchins. You should really listen to all three, and/or go to 7thsonnovel.com for all that and more, including some fan fiction. Plug over.)

Anyway, back to me. You may have noticed that Keaton, the stealer of all my ideas as it appears, has had a theme to his blog posts. Yes, I know there have only been two, but they had a theme. Keaton’s area of expertise is opinion, he has his “Keaton On:” segment, and now I will have my own. The grand title: “Will Gets Things Done.” Yes, I am about to become one of those GTD freaks. Don’t worry, though. I’m the kind that loves to tinker with new workflows, so it won’t be all about how my way is the best way. (more…)

Write… Or Else! Using Write Or Die

This is my first post for IMP, so I figured that it would be fitting to write about something to do with writing (about something to do with writing about something… you get the idea.)

I found a really cool website today! I should probably tell you where I got it, but the problem is that I don’t remember and due to the nature I can’t go look it up now. You’ll see why in a sec. I’ll probably put it in “in post.” (more…)
