Today the Apple community shouts a big hurrah to the news that the previously rumoured January 27th event, something every blog and podcast, including this one, have been speculating about for the past month or so, is now in fact a real thing!

Apple Event: Come see our latest creation.

ArsTechnica seem to be the first of the mainstream tech-blogs to publish the story, followed by Engadget and Gizmodo soon after. All confirm the event shall take place at 10:00am in the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts and Theatre, San Francisco. Known as the regular location for previous iPod/iTunes events in September, and with no Macworld Expo keynote from Apple this year, it seems like a good place for Apple to show their “latest creation” to the world in a month that has introduced us to the Mac Mini, iPhone and MacBook Air in previous years. Everything went wrong for O2 today. With the iPhone 3G launch being the biggest day in the little phone companies life, well almost, and for most customers everything went wrong. Claiming unprecedented amount of customers wishing to purchase an iPhone, most Carphone Warehouse and most O2 Stores had limited supply of iPhones with some Carphone warehouse stores stocking one lonely 16GB model.

Hi all, hope you’re all excited about the iPhone 3G launch on Friday 11th July (tomorow as I write this). I just wanted to write a quick post to let you know what’s happening with live coverage from an IMP point of view.

I personally will try to stream from about 6am GMT from the o2 store in Leeds, if I can get wifi etc, but I’d also like to mention our friend from the Apple Review Cast, John Meyer, who is in New York and will be streaming from 2am EST over at www.mogulus.com/applereviewcast he and his cohorts will also be doing a giveaway of 20 iPhone 3G invisible shields, so definately worth a look.

I’ve asked the rest of the team to update this post if they are going to be doing any streaming, so watch this spot!

The iPhone is held in some households as a god on a dock of solid gold. Or so I have heard. Now their is a new JesusPhone and it is much improved.

Steve Jobs on stage at the WWDC 2008 stage and all ears were tuned to the iPhone frequency. People lay outside bearing arms if Steve let them down but fortunately he did not.

Mr Jobs first celebrated the iPhone EDGE’s birthday. As a loving parent does he boasted about what his baby had accomplished in his first year. 90% customer satisfaction with 98% of people satisfied with the iPhone web browsing.

Basically it is an upgrade to .Mac with a lot of exchange features built into it. Phil Schiller donned the hosting duties for this bit begining straight off the bat with saying it is “Exchange For The Rest Of Us”.

iPhone 2.0…..Software

His holly Steveness first said he would talk about the iPhone 2.0 Software. Now we had heard a lot about the SDK from previous events such as the iPhone software roadmap. We all know that Apple are trying to push enterprise on the iPhone and also trying to make it a better experience for developers by, well, letting them develop for the thing!
